reasons and collateral damages

Things may look good even if they are done for a bad reason… Looking for someone just for payback, looking for someone just to make sure that no one will ever know about what happened…
But, sometimes, although you know it is for one of the above, you still want to believe it because you have to make sure his life won't get even more complicated because of you, because you're ready to do anything to help him even if you know that's meaningless for him; just because he made you feel well and discover new feelings and help you in so many ways.
On the other hand, people may get hurt in the process, it was not intended and you haven't seen it coming but being in competition with a 'perfect-picture-of-what-could-have-happened-if-the-situation-was-different' cannot be easy. Even though, at first, it was  only to stop the gossips, things may change but maybe it's too late because the shadows of the past would still be there....
And the worst thing about it, it's that you're totally ready to do it over and over because no matter how you see it on a specific moment, there will always be the need of hiding the past to protect the future....
